Acting Minister of Finance on Construction of 40km Road in ShohadaDistrict of Badakhshan

H.E. Abdul HadiArghandiwal, Acting Finance Minister met with elders and people of Badakhshan province on August 27, 2020.

Residence of Shohada and 4 other districts of Badakhshan talked about the construction of 40km road which connects Shohada with other districts. They asked the road to be constructed in two stages, which the initial stage of the road has been completed already by the Ministry of Public Works, and to finance the second stage, Ministry of Finance’s cooperation is needed.

Mr. Arghandiwal stated that our goal and priority is to pay attention to the districts where less development projects have been implemented so far, and in the next year's budget we will try to pay more attention to the underdeveloped provinces.

Moreover, Acting Finance Minister said that in the current fiscal year, the COVID-19 outbreak has had a negative impact on our national revenue collection. Nevertheless, he instructed the General Directorate of Budget at the Ministry of Finance to provide them with the necessary budget to build 20km of the road. If budget facilities are not available this year, it will be considered in the first six months of next year; the rest of the construction work will be completed by the end of next year, depending on budget availability.

Residents expressed their gratitude to the Acting Finance Minister, and emphasized that the construction of this road will provide necessary facilities for the residents of Badakhshan.
