First Meeting on Master Plan for Urban Development of Nuristan and Kunar provinces Held

In accordance with the decree of the President of Afghanistan, Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, on the preparation of the Master Plan for Urban Development of Nuristan and Kunar Provinces, H.E. Prof. Mohammad Humayon Qayoumi, Acting Minister of Finance and Chief Advisor on Infrastructure to H.E. the President, met with Mr. Hafiz Abdul Qayoum, the Governor of Nuristan and Mr.  Abdul Sattar Mirzakwal, the Governor of Kunar to discuss master plan of the mentioned provinces today Sep 02, 2019.

The Acting Minister of Finance discussed the aim of preparing a master plan for urban development in Nuristan and Kunar Provinces, mobility of economic foundations and connectivity of the provinces through the master plans, consideration of public utility areas especially universities and training centers, contract with an experienced and reputable global company for providing a development master plan and other related subjects.

Prof. Qayoumi said that we are now in the preparatory phase of planning, the company working on the preparation of these master plans should visit the intended areas in the provinces and incorporate the views of the people in it.

The respected Governors of Nuristan and Kunar called the preparation of master plan the mentioned provinces beneficial and effective adding that we would share our ideas and recommendations with the supplies company.

At the end, it was decided that the land acquisition plan should be prepared now and the Ministries of Finance, Urban Development and Lands and the Governors of Nuristan and Kunar should complete their related affairs.

It is worth mentioning that, in accordance with the Presidential Decree, following the preparation of a master plan for urban development of Nuristan and Kunar, the master plan for Panjshir, Laghman will be arranged so that the provinces to be linked as a transit bloc.
