Ministry of Finance Conducts Awareness Program on Access to Information Law

The awareness program on access to information law was heldat the Ministry of Finance.Mr. Abdul Habib Zadran, Deputy Minister of Finance, Mr. AinuddinBahadori, Chief of Access to Information Commission, and Mr. Shamorz Khan Masjidi, Director of Public Information and Awareness, Directors and employees ofMoF participated.
In the event, Mr. Abdul Habib Zadran, Deputy Ministry of Finance thanked the Access to Information Commission for conducting awareness program on the right to access information. He also welcomed the chief and staff of Access to Information Commission, as well as other employees of the Ministry of Finance.
The Deputy Minister emphasized that the Ministry of Finance is committed to providing information;is on the forefront of access to information; and has been ranked first in the surveys launched by Access to Information Commission. He requested the AIC to closely work with this Ministry to raise more public awareness.
Likewise, Mr. AinuddinBahadori, Chief of Access to Information Commission expressed his gratitude to the Ministry of Finance for its cooperation with the AIC in access to information. He stated that the Ministry of Finance is an accountable and responsible agency under the Access to Information Law. With accountable and responsible systems people can stay informed of the government activities. Afghanistan is an accountable country in the region with the access to information law, he added. He considered this law to be one of the most significant laws in the world.

Following that, the representative of AIC delivered a presentation regarding Access to Information Law; which included how to access information;when-and-how of providing information;responsibilities of the person-in-charge of providing information in the agencies; the agencies’ responsibility in precautionary publication of information; prohibition ofaccess to information; complains and how to handle them with the commission; violations, corrections and immunity of the people.
At the end, the question raised by the participants were answered.
