Acting Minister of Finance Discussed IMF’s New Three Years Plan for the Afghanistan Government

On June 7, 2020, H.E Abdul Hadi Arghandiwal conversed with a technical team of International Monetary Fund through a video conference.

Deputy Ministers of MoF and Da Afghanistan Bank were also present in the meeting. The parties discussed the new three year plan of IMF with the government of Afghanistan.

This new plan aims to create sustainability in Afghanistan’s economy, and to continue the financial reforms. Taking the state of Afghanistan into consideration, this plan will be designed by the technical teams of IMF and the government of Afghanistan.

IMF and the government of Afghanistan will work on an MOU that allows the IMF to create a series of standards for financial reform and creating economic sustainability for the government Afghanistan to follow; in return, the IMF will continue its technical and monetary support of the government.

It is worth to mention that both parties’ technical teams will work together to design the new program according to Afghanistan’s needs, so that the government of Afghanistan can pursue and continue its priority programs more effectively.
