101st Anniversary of the Country’s Independence Day at the Ministry of Finance

On August 19, 2020, the Ministry of Finance celebrated 101st anniversary of Afghanistan’s independence day. H.E. Abdul Hadi Arghandiwal, the Acting Minister of Finance, Deputy Minister of Defense, members of parliament and a number of officials from other ministries attended the ceremony.
The event was to commemorate the anniversary of the country's independence; the martyrs and the bravery of the ancestors, and heroes of the liberation of Afghanistan under the leadership of the young Shah Ghazi Amanullah Khan. “The country’s independence is not a complicated issue; we all know how we gained this historical value and how we can preserve it. A country’s independence means financial, economic, and social independence nowadays. The reason why our nation did not achieve security and public welfare after gaining political independence is that we relied on others in finance and economy. Unfortunately, we have not achieved this goal yet,” stated Mr. Arghandiwal, acting Minister of Finance in his speech.

“Therefore, the key issue for us is to resolve political crises based on intrinsic methods and to achieve economic development as soon as possible, in order to reduce our country's reliance on foreign aid and achieve financial independence,” he added.

The Acting Minister of Finance emphasized on fighting corruption in his speech, and said that the leadership of the Ministry of Finance has a serious commitment to minimize this phenomenon. Towards the end, employees of Customs Protection Unit were promoted a grade, and received certificate of commendation by the Acting Minister of Finance. Likewise, cash assistance was awarded to a number of dependents of civilian and military martyrs of the Ministry of Finance.
