Afghan Development Forum
The fifth Afghanistan
Development Forum convenes in Kabul on the 29 and 30 April and is
followed by the Joint Coordination and Monitoring Board on 1 May. The
ADF co-chaired by the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Foreign
Affairs, provides the opportunity for the Government of Afghanistan and
the international community to work together on subjects that are
crucial to Afghanistan’s future welfare and prosperity.
The Government will
present its draft strategies on Health, Education and Energy at the ADF.
Discussion papers on Aid Effectiveness, Capacity Building and Provincial
Planning have also been prepared especially for the ADF. They are
designed to allow government and donor participants to identify
bottlenecks and propose solutions to three critical issues that affect
all Afghans, be they returning refugees or members of the ever-growing
business community whose actions must drive future economic growth.
The ADF has one
overriding goal – to root out the causes of poverty by investing in
strategies designed to transform the lives of Afghans in a sustainable
and simply implemented manner.
